A meeting titled “Those Who Keep the Victory Alive, Those Who Build Tomorrow” between families of fallen servicemen, Karabakh war veterans and diaspora youth at the 7th Diaspora Youth Summer Camp in Eastern Zangazur has become an unforgettable event.
Heartfelt conversations, poignant memories and stories of heroism strengthened the young participants’ sense of attachment to their homeland, national solidarity and pride, News Cover reports, citing Azerbaijan's State Committee on Work with Diaspora.
The panel, moderated by Vasile Vahigizi, Head of a Department at the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, featured Sevinc Orujova, wife of April 2016 martyr Lieutenant Colonel Raquf Orujov; Afida Mirzayeva, mother of martyr Rashad Mirzali; Ganira Guliyeva, mother of martyr Elgun Guliyev; Lala Hamidova, mother of martyr Mikayil Hamidli; as well as Karabakh war veterans.
During the panel discussion, the parents shared memories of their children, while veterans of the Karabakh war spoke about their experiences on the battlefield. They said that seeing Azerbaijanis from different countries participating in the camp in liberated Lachin filled them with a sense of pride and joy.
The heartfelt remarks of the families of the fallen servicemen and the veterans deeply moved the young participants, evoking strong feelings of pride and patriotism. During the most emotional moments of the event, many participants were unable to hold back their tears.
“It felt as if I had hugged my son today,” said Afida Mirzayeva, the mother of martyr Rashad Mirzali, as she embraced two camp participants who were also named Rashad.
A film about the lives and heroism of the fallen servicemen was screened at the event, while patriotic songs were also performed.
The meeting remained in the memories of the young participants as an expression of profound respect for the sacred memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the liberation of Karabakh and deep gratitude for the courage of the war veterans. The young people expressed their appreciation to the State Committee for Work with Diaspora for organizing the meeting.
The 7th Diaspora Youth Summer Camp is being held in Eastern Zangazur from August 2 to 8, jointly organized by the State Committee for Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. A total of 123 young people from 64 countries are participating in the camp. Previous camps were held in Shaki, Shamakhi, Shusha, Nakhchivan, Lachin and Khankendi, with more than 700 young people from 84 countries participating overall.
