Azerbaijani Community Presents National Heritage at Vilnius Festival

The international community festival “Vilnius Is My City 2026” was held at Bernardine Garden in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. The event brought together representatives of different countries, as well as figures from the fields of culture and gastronomy, with Azerbaijan among the participating countries.

Azerbaijan’s participation in the festival was initiated by Narmin Aliyeva, Lithuania coordinator of the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis Living in the Baltic Countries, News Cover reports, citing Azerbaijan's State Committee on Work with Diaspora.

Organized to promote cultural dialogue and communication among different peoples, the festival featured a 100-meter-long communal table. In addition to tasting traditional dishes from different countries, guests had the opportunity to learn about their rich cultures and traditions.

At the Azerbaijani stand, the country’s rich national and cultural heritage, traditional ornaments and examples of carpet-making were showcased. Visitors were provided with detailed information about the symbolic meanings of Azerbaijani ornaments and carpet patterns. Azerbaijani cuisine and traditional sweets also attracted considerable interest from guests.

During the “Vilnius Is My City Awards” ceremony held as part of the festival, the organization SPEAK Lithuania, represented by Narmin Aliyeva, was named the winner in the “For a Cultural Vilnius” category.

The active participation of the Azerbaijani community in the “Vilnius Is My City 2026” festival contributed to promoting Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage in Lithuania and increasing interest in Azerbaijani culture. The event also demonstrated the active participation of Azerbaijanis living in Lithuania in the country’s public and multicultural life.
