Azerbaijan’s rich dance culture was showcased at a multicultural event held in Geneva, Switzerland.
Organized on the shores of Lake Geneva, the event featured musical and dance performances representing different cultures, News Cover reports, citing Azerbaijan's State Committee on Work with Diaspora.
Mariya Khan-Khoyskaya Martinyoli, artistic director of the “Irs” (IRS) children’s dance group consisting of Azerbaijani dancers based in Geneva and a member of the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis in Switzerland, presented traditional dances from Azerbaijan and Georgia.
The programme featured the Azerbaijani dances “Tərəkəmə,” “Sarı Gəlin,” “Yüzbiri” and “Nəlbəki,” as well as Georgia’s “Lazuri,” “Muxambazi” and “Ceyrani.”
Bringing together the musical and dance traditions of different peoples, the event gave the Geneva public an opportunity to become more closely acquainted with diverse cultures.
The presentation of Azerbaijani national dances on an international cultural platform was significant in introducing Azerbaijan’s rich cultural heritage and national dance traditions to a wider audience in Switzerland. Such initiatives contribute to promoting Azerbaijani culture abroad, presenting the country’s national and cultural heritage to international audiences, and fostering cultural dialogue and interaction among different peoples.
