A musical event featuring students of the music school operating under the Mugham German-Azerbaijani Music Society in Düsseldorf has been held.
The event was organized by the society’s director, pianist Sabina Mammadova. In her speech, she emphasized the special importance of such events in helping representatives of different nations become more familiar with Azerbaijani national music and in promoting intercultural dialogue. She noted that one of the school’s main goals is to instill the traditions of mugham and Azerbaijani composition in the younger generation, while also increasing interest in Azerbaijani culture among students of different nationalities, News Cover reports, citing Azerbaijan's State Committee on Work with Diaspora.
The musical program featured selected works by Azerbaijani composers. Guests listened with great interest to performances of “Lyrical Waltz” by Gara Garayev, “Scherzo” by Fikret Amirov, “Ballad About the Homeland” by Faiq Sujaddinov, “Little Shepherd” by Musa Mirzayev, “Sad Song” by Jovdat Hajiyev, and “Jazz Fantasy” by Gulnara Safarova, all performed on piano.
For information, the music school under the Mugham German-Azerbaijani Music Society currently has 30 students. Alongside Azerbaijanis, the school is attended by German, Turkish, African-origin, Albanian, Ukrainian, Indian, Chinese, and Brazilian students.
