Businessman highlights strong Azerbaijan–Czech energy ties

Elshad Taghiyev, an Azerbaijani entrepreneur living in Czech Republic, has given an interview to Czech journalist Ondrej Koutník on the “Fighters Club” podcast.

During the interview, the official visit of Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babiš to Azerbaijan, as well as political and economic relations between the two countries and prospects for regional cooperation, were widely discussed. In particular, it was emphasized that the Azerbaijan–Czech business forum held with the participation of President Ilham Aliyev and Prime Minister Andrej Babiš serves as an important platform for expanding economic cooperation, News Cover reports, citing Azerbaijan's State Committee on Work with Diaspora.

Elshad Taghiyev stated that Azerbaijan is one of the Czech Republic’s key strategic partners and that approximately 40% of the oil consumed in the Czech Republic is currently imported from Azerbaijan. This figure clearly demonstrates Azerbaijan’s growing role in Europe’s energy security.

The discussions also focused on Europe’s new energy map, gas supply routes, transport corridors, and the activities of Czech companies in Baku. The growing cooperation between Prague and Baku was highlighted for its regional and geopolitical importance, with expectations of further expansion of ties.
