The Turquoise Turkish Arts and Culture Foundation, based in Toronto, organized the Turquoise Turkish Multicultural Festival in Vaughan, Ontario.
Dedicated to Canadian Multiculturalism Day, the festival celebrated the rich cultural heritage of the Turkic world and attracted thousands of visitors with a vibrant program of events. More than 40 cultural booths showcased traditional cuisine, handicrafts, cultural exhibitions, ceramics workshops, ebru (paper marbling) art, Turkish coffee demonstrations, and entertainment activities for children, News Cover reports, citing Azerbaijan's State Committee on Work with Diaspora.
More than 25 professional music and dance ensembles representing Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Georgia, the Crimean Tatar, Uyghur, Tatar, Bashkir, and other communities highlighted the cultural diversity and shared heritage of the Turkic world.
The Azerbaijan pavilion attracted particular attention from visitors. Guests were introduced to Azerbaijan's historical landmarks, traditional dances, cultural values, and rich national heritage.
More than 1,000 people attended the festival. The Azerbaijan House in Canada, the Tabriz Azerbaijan Music and Dance Ensemble, the Hamilton Azerbaijani Community, and the Azerbaijani Women's Support Center showcased Azerbaijan's cultural heritage. Students from the "My Azerbaijan" Weekend School, which operates under the Azerbaijan House, delivered memorable performances. The colorful performances by soloists, dancers, and musicians from the Tabriz Azerbaijan Music and Dance Ensemble received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Speaking at the event, Nasrin Attari and Shervin Shadpur, leaders of the Turquoise Foundation, highlighted the organization's efforts to promote Turkic cultural heritage in Canada. They emphasized the importance of strengthening intercultural dialogue, preserving shared heritage, and fostering mutual understanding among different communities.
At the end of the festival, all performers received awards, while volunteers, sponsors, partners, and members of the organizing committee were recognized for their contributions to the event's success.
Community representatives also expressed their gratitude to the Government of Azerbaijan, including the State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan, for supporting the organization of the festival.
