The Luxembourg-Azerbaijan Friendship Association (LuxAz), one of the leading organizations of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Luxembourg, took part in a charity running marathon.
The main goal of the marathon was to raise financial and moral support for UNICEF programs aimed at improving the well-being of children worldwide, including initiatives in education, healthcare, access to clean drinking water, and child protection, News Cover reports, citing Azerbaijan's State Committee on Work with Diaspora.
The event brought together hundreds of participants from different age groups, with 23 members of LuxAz demonstrating strong solidarity by taking part. Participants completed a 1.3-kilometer circular route at their own pace, contributing to the humanitarian initiative. The active participation of the Azerbaijani community highlighted its role in Luxembourg's social, cultural, and humanitarian life, as well as its commitment to supporting global charitable initiatives.
As part of the marathon, the LuxAz delegation also met with Max Hahn, Luxembourg's Minister for Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together and Reception of Refugees. During the meeting, held in a friendly atmosphere, the participants exchanged views on the integration of communities into local society, strengthening social cohesion, the contribution of diaspora organizations to community development, and prospects for humanitarian cooperation. Minister Hahn praised the Azerbaijani community for its active involvement in charitable and public initiatives.
The State Committee on Work with Diaspora of the Republic of Azerbaijan also supported the humanitarian initiative and helped organize the Azerbaijani diaspora's participation in the marathon.
